"Every customer likes it if you are passionate about your profession"

Mick de Blok is a Senior Business Consultant Legal & Regulatory at Effacts, part of Wolters Kluwer. They offer digital tools to the legal departments of companies, among other to manage shareholder structures, legal entities and claims. "As a project manager and consultant, I supervise the implementation of our platform for new customers, and I offer existing customers advice. My goal is to increase their success with our products."

Mick started two and a half years ago, as a junior, and rose in record time to a senior position. For now, he is remaining where he is, to reflect. "This leadership role fits me like a glove. For now, I would like to get better at what I do."

Lately, Mick increasingly works for customers abroad, and he experiences how great the cultural differences can be. "But no matter where you go: around the world, customers like it if you are passionate about your profession and interested in their business."

"I work for Effacts, a company that has been taken over by Wolters Kluwer. We offer digital tools, among other to manage shareholder structures, legal entities, and claims. Our customers are the legal departments of companies, from SMEs with small groups of lawyers, to large corporations with sizeable legal departments. With our software, they can store and manage their contracts and other important legal documents in a structured manner. Our tools offer all sorts of extra features, such as reminders when contracts should be revised."

Laws and regulations

"As a project manager and consultant, I supervise the implementation of our platform for new customers, and I offer existing customers advice. My goal is to increase their success with our products." Our customers play an important part in our product development. For example, if there are any changes in laws and regulations, we discuss how best to integrate those in our software, or which new modules would work well. Effacts also organizes regular customer days, during which we discuss matters of this kind. Our work method is transparent and quick. We tell you in advance what we will deliver and at what cost, and we ensure that it is ready on time."

A great deal of confidence

"In the two and a half years that I have worked here, I have been able to develop rapidly. I started as a junior and am now a senior, managing a team. "This leadership role fits me like a glove. I like to find out what motivates people and how they make the most of their talents. I would like to help my team members find the balance between their strengths and weaknesses.

For now, I prefer to remain where I am and reflect on my career. I specifically want to get better at what I do. Wolters Kluwer supports me in my development; for instance, they offer a broad range of training courses. Wolters Kluwer is also an organization that inspires a lot of confidence. You're not penalized for every mistake you make. After all, you learn most by trial and error.

Cultural differences

"The transition process from Effacts to Wolters Kluwer still continues, but I increasingly feel part of Wolters Kluwer. Ever more information is shared with colleagues who operate in the same market, or who develop software as well. And we can offer our customer a much broader selection. Wolters Kluwer is active across the globe, which offers our service a considerable growth potential, and me, new prospects. It's very special to experience the great cultural differences between the various countries. The Dutch people are rather direct; I have learned to take that into account. "But no matter where you go: around the world, customers like it if you are passionate about your profession and interested in their business."
